Have you read John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath as a high school student? Â How much of it do you remember? Â
Although I have read this text as a high school student, I remembered very little of it until recently. might have been able to tell that the book was about Okies west and written by John Steinbeck. might even have remembered the dust Bowl. But apart from that probably would not have said anything other than the fact that I did not like English / Language Arts as high school student.Â
Although it was long ago, I suspect that one reason why I did not like English class as a high school student was because the texts of my teachers were not present in the most enthusiastic ways. In fact, usually sat in class reading aloud. Can you imagine a high school English class, reading aloud?  I wonder if I ever started thinking about the ideas of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath until recently. (I probably did not challenge I thought about it when I was a teenager. At that point, I just wanted to pass tests and get on with life.)
I have been teaching for more than years. twenty However, when I first became a teacher who is committed to myself. decided I would conduct with my students in a very different from my high school teachers had been engaged to review me. wanted my students to engage with the study material, bringing their own ideas pre-existing materials. I wanted my students know that the best views are the best way to support equal. not opinions. every opinion is equally important that I wanted my students to have fun, and learning that learned. should not be a nuisance, but my own high school experience does not convince me was not otherwise. but until she graduated from high school and studying at Columbia University who recognized that truly enjoy dealing with interesting ideas.
